Introduction
Hello hello hello everyone and welcome back to Hello Hi for another quick and easy cannabis recipe. Today we’ll be exploring how to craft the perfect cannabis-infused gummies. As you can see from the thumbnail, we’re going to be using Canna MCT oil, but that’s not all. At the end, I’ll also be sharing a variation on how to make a few sweet and sour gummies. So, sit back, relax, and let’s get started.
Ingredients and Equipment
To make the cannabis-infused gummies, you’ll need to gather several ingredients and items. Make sure you have the following:
– Jello
– One Kool-Aid pack
– Knox Gelatin Unflavored
– One cup of juice (I use Hawaiian Punch Berry Blue Typhoon Juice)
– Soy or Sunflower Lecithin
– Potassium Sorbate
– Four Candy Molds
– Can oil or can butter
To make my gummies taste sweet and extra flavorful, I typically opt for Hawaiian Punch Berry Blue Typhoon juice. Some recipes also call for water, but I find using juice helps mask the flavor of the cannabis effectively. Then, I add a pack of Blue Raspberry Lemonade Kool-aid and stir until dissolved.
Sweetening Your Cannabis-Infused Gummies
Add 1/8 cup of sugar and stir until dissolved into your juice mixture. I know this might seem like a lot of sugar, but in the end, the gummies will carry the perfect level of sweetness that beautifully masks the cannabis in the oil or butter that you are using.
Next, add four unflavored gelatin packets to a small bowl (If you’re using canna butter, reduce this to three packets). Add a half a cup of juice to the gelatin, stir slightly until combined, and set aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
Now let’s prepare the oil.
Preparing the Cannabis Oil
If you don’t own a double broiler, do not despair. Simply pour one cup of water into a medium-sized pot and bring it to a boil. Then turn the pot down to a simmer and place a glass bowl on top. Add one cup of can oil and 2 tablespoons of soy lecithin and stir until combined. Let this simmer for about 10 minutes.
Bringing It All Together
While your oil is simmering, use a small pot to heat up the rest of the juice and bring it to a boil. When boiling, add one pack or three ounces of the jello mix and stir for 30 seconds to a minute until dissolved. I use Starbucks Blue Raspberry jello to maintain a consistent flavor with the juice. Once dissolved, turn the jello off. Now is when you need to move swiftly.
Add the jello mix to the can oil and stir until combined. This process could take around 15 minutes of consistent stirring.
Final Touches to Your Cannabis-Infused Gummies
Your gelatin should be ready to add to the mix by now. If you notice small pieces of gelatin while stirring, use your spoon or spatula to break up the gelatin against the side of the bowl.
An optional step is to add 1 tablespoon of potassium sorbate, which serves as a preservative. If you don’t have any, you could also use two teaspoons of fresh lemon juice as a substitute.
Pour your gummy mix into the molds, making sure to fill them up to the top. This recipe typically makes approximately 54 gummies, although this could vary depending on the size and shape of your molds.
Setting Your Gummies
After filling all the molds, set your gummies aside for about two hours. Note that these gummies do not need to go into the refrigerator, although if you prefer your gummies chilled, that’s fine too.
Once finished, the gummies should easily pop out of the molds and have a nice gummy texture. On the off chance that some of your gummies appear separated, that means you didn’t stir the gummy mixture long enough. But don’t fret – with practice, the process will get smoother.
Creating a Sour Variation
If you are interested in making sour gummies, add a half a cup of granulated or fine sugar to a small bowl, along with a half a tablespoon of citric acid, and stir until combined. Then, simply toss a few gummies in the mixture and voila, you’ve got yourself some potent cannabis-infused sour gummies!
