Welcome to Endoca’s Organic Cannabis Fields

In this article, we will explore the process of creating a cannabis extract using ethanol. The starting point for a quality cannabis extract is, of course, the plant material. Endoca, an organic cannabis field, provides top quality cannabis plants and guarantees that the plant materials are organic, ensuring there are no harmful substances inside. With over 4,000 different varieties of cannabis, the one chosen for this particular extraction process is rich in CBD, but the method can be applied to any cannabinoid.

Creating a Cannabis Extract at Home

The supplies you will need for this extraction process include:
– Cannabis plant material (leaves and flowers)
– Ethanol (to extract the cannabinoids)
– A bowl for mixing
– A plastic spoon (to prevent any sparks)
– A sieve and coffee filters (for filtration purposes)
– Heating devices such as rice cookers, water distillers, and coffee machines
– A lighter to check for remaining ethanol

Step 1: Preparing the Plant Material

First, you need to dry the cannabis plant material in order to make a proper extract. To do this, place the cannabis leaves and flowers in a bowl, making sure to use organic plant material to ensure there are no harmful substances inside.

Step 2: Mixing the Plant Material with Ethanol

Pour cold ethanol onto the plant material, using just enough to cover it. The process has to be quick; you don’t want the ethanol to be in contact with the plant material for too long, as this will extract unwanted components. Stir the mixture quickly for three minutes with a plastic spoon. Make sure not to use mechanical devices, as they could create sparks, which are dangerous when working with ethanol.

Step 3: Filtering the Mixture

After stirring the mixture for three minutes, it is time to separate the ethanol from the plant material. Do this by filtering the mixture through a sieve placed over another bowl. Repeat this process with a coffee filter, making sure to change the filter paper each time a single filtration has occurred.

Step 4: Heating the Mixture

Once the liquid has been filtered, it’s time to heat the mixture in order to separate the ethanol from the cannabinoids. You can use a rice cooker, water distiller, or even a pot over a heating device. However, a water distiller is the easiest and safest method for this step.

Fill the distiller with the liquid and wait for the separation to occur. Keep track of the volume of ethanol collected in a separate bowl, as you can reuse it again for future extractions.

When to Stop Heating

You should stop the heating process when roughly 80% of the original ethanol volume has been collected. Check the distiller and if there is very little material left inside, it is time to stop.

Step 5: Final Heating and Quality Test

The remaining liquid needs to have the residual ethanol removed. To do this, pour the liquid into a small bowl and heat it using a coffee machine or other heating device for 24 hours.

Once the liquid has been heated, perform a quality test by dipping a paperclip into the material and lighting it with a lighter. If there is a spark, this means there is still ethanol present in the extract. In this case, continue heating the material until there are no more sparks.

Enjoy Your Cannabis Extract!

After following all these steps, you will now have a cannabis extract that is free of any remaining ethanol. The finished product can be enjoyed for its medicinal benefits or in various recipes.

Stay tuned for the next article, where we will introduce the process of purifying the cannabis extract and turning it into pure cannabinoids, such as beautiful 99% CBD crystals.

Quick Recap:

1. Gather organic cannabis plant material (leaves and flowers)
2. Place the plant material in a bowl and cover it with cold ethanol
3. Stir the mixture quickly for three minutes with a plastic spoon
4. Filter the mixture through a sieve and then through a coffee filter
5. Heat the filtered mixture in a water distiller until 80% of the original ethanol volume has been collected
6. Pour the remaining liquid into a small bowl and heat it for 24 hours
7. Check for remaining ethanol using a paperclip and lighter; if there is a spark, continue heating until there are no more sparks
8. Enjoy your cannabis extract!
